Chairwoman Mikulski Statement on White House CPI Announcement

WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.),Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today released the following statement on President Obama’s announcement on Social Security:

"President Obama’s announcement today that he intends to keep Social Security strong is the right path for this country. The chained CPI would fundamentally weaken Social Security and would chain our seniors to poverty. Social Security must be undeniable, reliable and inflation proof."
