Senate Committee Approves FY 2025 Legislative Branch Appropriations Bill

Bill passes Committee by a vote of 27-0

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations today approved the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, providing support for physical and cyber security, technology infrastructure, and overall legislative work capacity.

The measure, which was advanced by a unanimous vote of 27-0, provides $7 billion in discretionary funding for legislative branch agencies, when combined with funding for the U.S. House of Representatives.

"This bill provides funding to support the men and women of the Capitol Police who work hard every day to keep the Capitol complex safe.  It also includes resources that help Congress fulfill its constitutional responsibilities and funding for the Government Accountability Office, Library of Congress, and other agencies that allow Congress to do its work in a transparent and accountable way,” said Senator Collins

“This year’s bill will ensure that our federal legislature remains a safe, secure place for members to do the people’s business.  Our bill allows Capitol Police officers to secure the complex, the Architect’s office to maintain the grounds, the GAO to oversee the use of public funds, and the Library of Congress to provide key resources.  It equips us with everything we need to do our jobs for the American people,” said Senator Deb Fischer, Ranking Member of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee.

Bill Highlights:

U.S. Capitol Police (USCP): $833 million to support the men and women of the USCP and provide for the security of Congress.
