Shelby Statement on Braun Budget Resolution

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senate Appropriations Committee Vice Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today released the following statement regarding the upcoming Senate vote on S. Con. Res. 43:

“I’ve long been a champion of balancing the federal budget, but not at the expense of our national defense.  Senator Braun’s proposal, while well-intentioned, essentially follows the Biden Administration’s plans to cut defense spending over the next decade.  As the world becomes increasingly dangerous, we need to invest in our military’s capabilities, not shortchange them.  For that reason, I will not support this resolution.”
